17,000 Words Later...

17,000 words later... that's how many thoughts I’ve turned into words over the past six years. What started as scattered notes in the "Pages" app on my phone has grown into something much bigger — a book. A story. My story.

During my playing career, I started documenting the experiences and lessons I was learning — not just about the game, but about life, about growth, and about what it really takes to succeed. As much as I wanted to make it to the Big Leagues — and as hard as I worked toward that dream — I began to understand something even deeper: that just having the physical ability isn’t always enough.

As I grinded it out and played against guys who had made it — across all levels of pro baseball — I began to see the bigger picture. The game at that level is as much a business as it is a sport. Talent matters, yes. But timing, opportunity, youth, and how much a club has invested in you — those things play a massive role in who gets the next call-up.

It took time, but coming to grips with how the system worked brought me a sense of peace. I stopped playing for promotion. I stopped chasing the next level like it was the only thing that mattered. And instead, I started to appreciate where I was — truly be where my feet were. Even if I wasn’t under the bright lights of a big-league stadium, I had earned the chance to play professional baseball — something very few ever get to experience.

And that perspective is what led to this book. Page after page of lessons, reflections, real talk, and stories from the road. A look behind the curtain of what it really takes to pursue a dream — and the mindset that kept me moving forward even when the path didn’t go the way I imagined.

Now, all these years and 17,000 words later, I’m putting the finishing touches on the final pages of my first book — a book I’ve been quietly building since my very first season.
